An Orientation for the Unmapped Life

Navigating the Unraveling

Our current moment is defined by a deep sense of instability. We see it in the crumbling of old certainties and the relentless noise of a culture that demands we "optimize" even as the ground shifts beneath us.

Most of us are waiting for the world to return to a recognizable state, or for a new script to follow. But what if this unraveling isn't a temporary detour? What if it is the terrain?

A 6-Week Shared Inquiry

The Art of Being Lost is an invitation to move beyond the search for solutions and develop a more honest relationship with the present. This is not a passive lecture series, but a deliberate, active study. We gather as a small, intimate cohort to put philosophy to work—not as an abstract exercise, but as a vital lens for our contemporary lives.

To find our footing, we draw from a diverse wellspring of philosophy and poetry. Our inquiry is rooted in the Daoist wisdom of the Daodejing and Zhuangzi, the grounded reflections of thinkers like Emerson and Thoreau, and the clear, questioning voices of poets like Wisława Szymborska and Wendell Berry. Together, we test whether these sources can help us stand with intent in the midst of a life in motion. This is a rare moment to enter a shared space of sustained, quiet attention.

The Intention

This is a call to explore whether a different orientation is possible. It is a space to see if, by looking together, we might become a little more open, a little more grounded, and perhaps more capable of acting with presence in a world that feels increasingly uncertain.

Notes on the Format

Who is this for?

This is for anyone seeking a space to think deeply about how to inhabit their life. We welcome a diverse cohort of participants—individuals from different paths who are bound by a shared willingness to look closely and stay with difficult questions. You don’t need a degree in philosophy; you just need a desire for a deeper orientation and a curiosity about those walking alongside you.

What is the format?

We gather live via Zoom for 120 minutes once a week for six weeks. This is a rare opportunity to join a small, intentional community of seekers for a period of deep, shared study. Each session balances guided reflection on our core sources with open, meaningful dialogue among participants. To ensure the group remains a truly intimate space for connection and rigorous thought, the cohort is strictly limited in size.
